Lake Alfred is a small Polk County city incorporated in 1915, set among lakes and citrus groves between Winter Haven and Auburndale. It is home to the University of Florida's Citrus Research and Education Center, founded in 1917. Homes range from older bungalows and block homes near downtown to lakefront houses and newer neighborhoods.
Owners James and Bridget Curtis built the company on a simple promise: tell homeowners the truth about their roof, even when the truth is a small repair instead of a big sale. That is still how we work today.

I am so pleased with RIG ROOFING! I didn't have any problems at all from start to finish. Emory McTeer was the person I met with to get the project started. RIG Roofing and Construction, solved my flat carport roof issues. Emory came out and thoroughly went over my whole roof and took lots of pictures. He listened to what I had to say and offered two options. The crew arrived early, managed by Isai and supervised by Aaron. Let me tell you they worked. This was a complex job and watching them was like watching a well organized group. They took down the flat part, built a temporary wall to hold the exterior structure up. They replaced the structural beam, by building it in place. Attached the cross beams and replaced the plywood. Then added the ISO board to create a slight tilt, so the water would flow off the roof. Then covered it with TPO sheeting. All this in one day and it poured for an hour or so. I was impressed. Thank you so much for the work well done. - Hide

I cannot say enough great things about Aaron Chandler and RIG Roofing! Aaron's communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. He was responsive at all hours of the day and understood how important our timeline was. We needed a complete reroof finished in time to satisfy insurance requirements, bind coverage, and keep our real estate closing on schedule with no delays.
RIG Roofing delivered! The entire reroof was completed in just one day, and I was extremely impressed with the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of the crew. Even the neighbors commented on how amazed they were with the process and quality of the work.
What impressed me just as much was the attention to detail. The landscaping and exterior of the home were kept in meticulous condition throughout the project, everything was cleaned up beautifully, and they even left spare shingles for the homeowners should they ever need them in the future.

A Lake Alfred Roofing Guide for Homeowners
Lakefront and Older Homes
Homes on Lake Alfred's lakes take more direct wind than homes in sheltered streets, so we pay close attention to ridge caps, edges and flashing. Older homes near downtown can hide worn decking or past layers of shingles, which we check before we quote.
Choosing a Roof for Your Lake Alfred Home
-
Metal roofing is a long-lasting favorite on lakefront and manufactured homes.
-
Architectural shingles are the most common choice on many homes here.
-
Tile shows up on some newer and custom homes.
-
Low-slope porches, carports and additions are rebuilt in TPO or PVC.
What Storms Have Taught Us
Hurricane Charley crossed Polk County in August 2004, Hurricane Irma followed in September 2017, and Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Milton both crossed Central Florida in 2022 and 2024. Storms like these are why we check every roof for lifted shingles, loose ridge caps, failed pipe boots and loose metal panels.
Lake Alfred Roof Permits
Homes inside city limits are permitted through the City of Lake Alfred Building Inspection Division, and homes outside city limits through Polk County. We pull the right permit and schedule the inspections for every roof replacement we do.

Our crews also serve Winter Haven, Auburndale, Haines City and the rest of Polk County. Not sure where to start? Book a free roof assessment.

Yes. Inside city limits, a roof replacement needs a permit and inspections through the City of Lake Alfred. Outside city limits the permit comes from Polk County. We handle it either way.
