We recently used R.I.G. Roofing for a project on our family home at Lake Mirror in Winter Haven after dealing with a frustrating roof leak. From the very beginning, their coordination was flawless. I am so pleased with RIG ROOFING! I didn't have any problems at all from start to finish. Emory McTeer was the person I met with to get the project started. Angelina kept me informed about everything during the whole process. Aaron who supervised the job was very helpful and professional. The crew was very nice. RIG Roofing and Construction, solved my flat carport roof issues. Emory came out and thoroughly went over my whole roof and took lots of pictures. He listened to what I had to say and offered two options. The crew arrived early, managed by Isai and supervised by Aaron. Let me tell you they worked. This was a complex job and watching them was like watching a well organized group. They took down the flat part, built a temporary wall to hold the exterior structure up. They replaced the structural beam, by building it in place. Attached the cross beams and replaced the plywood. Then added the ISO board to create a slight tilt, so the water would flow off the roof. Then covered it with TPO sheeting. All this in one day and it poured for an hour or so. I was impressed. Thank you so much for the work well done. - Hide

I cannot say enough great things about Aaron Chandler and RIG Roofing! Aaron's communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. He was responsive at all hours of the day and understood how important our timeline was. We needed a complete reroof finished in time to satisfy insurance requirements, bind coverage, and keep our real estate closing on schedule with no delays.
RIG Roofing delivered! The entire reroof was completed in just one day, and I was extremely impressed with the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of the crew. Even the neighbors commented on how amazed they were with the process and quality of the work.
What impressed me just as much was the attention to detail. The landscaping and exterior of the home were kept in meticulous condition throughout the project, everything was cleaned up beautifully, and they even left spare shingles for the homeowners should they ever need them in the future.

How Roofing Changes From One Part of Hillsborough to the Next
Tampa, Temple Terrace and the Urban Core
Inside Tampa you will find 1920s bungalows, mid-century block ranches, and modern infill homes on the same street. Many older homes have low-slope additions and layered roofs from past repairs, so careful tear-off and decking inspection matter. Temple Terrace adds its own mix of established ranch homes along the Hillsborough River.
Northwest Hillsborough: Westchase and Lutz
Westchase is a planned, deed-restricted community where architectural review is part of every roof project, and concrete tile and dimensional shingles are both common. In Lutz, larger wooded lots and lake homes mean heavy tree cover, more debris in valleys, and more algae on shaded slopes.
East County: Brandon, Valrico, Seffner, Dover and Plant City
Brandon and Valrico are full of 1980s and 1990s subdivisions now on their second or third roof, plus gated golf communities with strict HOA standards. Seffner and Dover lean more rural, where metal roofs on homes, barns, and workshops are popular. Plant City combines a historic downtown, established neighborhoods like Walden Lake, and farm properties surrounded by strawberry fields.
South County: Riverview, FishHawk, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Sun City Center and Wimauma
The fastest-growing part of the county sits south of the Alafia River. Riverview, FishHawk, and Wimauma are dominated by newer HOA communities. Along the bay, Apollo Beach and Ruskin homes face salt air that is hard on fasteners and flashing, so we pay close attention to coastal-rated materials. Sun City Center, a large 55-plus community, has a mix of tile and shingle roofs.
Every Major Roof Type, Installed and Repaired
No single material fits all of Hillsborough County, which is why we work with all of them:
-
Architectural shingles, the most common roof on single-family homes countywide. Shingle roofs
-
Concrete and clay tile, popular in Westchase, South County HOAs, and Sun City Center. Tile roofs
-
Standing seam and exposed fastener metal, for rural properties, bayfront homes, and anyone wanting a long-life roof. Metal roofs
-
TPO and PVC membranes for flat and low-slope sections on homes and for commercial buildings. TPO roofs and PVC roofs
Storms and Hillsborough County Roofs
Hurricane Milton in October 2024 was a reminder of what this county can face. The National Weather Service reported peak gusts generally between 80 and 100 mph across Hillsborough, with a maximum near 93 mph at Tampa International Airport, and 10 to 15 inches of rain over most of the county. Even roofs that held together were often left with loose ridge caps, damaged flashing, and slow leaks that showed up weeks later.
Roof Permits: City or County?
Hillsborough County has three incorporated cities. Homes inside the City of Tampa, the City of Temple Terrace, and the City of Plant City get their re-roof permits from that city. Everywhere else, including Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Lutz, Westchase, Apollo Beach, and Sun City Center, is unincorporated, and permits are issued by Hillsborough County. R.I.G. Roofing identifies the right office for your address, pulls the permit, and schedules every inspection.
Repair or Replace?
Many roof problems in Hillsborough County can be solved with a professional roof repair, especially on roofs under about 12 years old. Older roofs with repeated leaks or widespread wear are usually better served by a roof replacement. Start with a free roof assessment, and ask about our Roof Maintenance Program to keep a newer roof in top shape.

Hillsborough County Communities We Serve
Hillsborough County Roofing FAQs
We serve the entire county from our Tampa satellite office, including Tampa, Temple Terrace, Plant City, Brandon, Valrico, Seffner, Dover, Riverview, FishHawk, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Sun City Center, Wimauma, Lutz, Westchase, and the communities in between.
Small repairs are priced by the problem, so the cost depends on what we find. For full replacements, a typical architectural shingle roof usually runs about $8,000 to $18,000, while metal and tile generally fall between $10,000 and $30,000 depending on roof size, pitch, and decking condition. You will get a no-charge written quote for your specific property, and payment plans are an option for homeowners who qualify.
It depends on your address. The City of Tampa, City of Temple Terrace, and City of Plant City each issue permits inside their own limits. All unincorporated areas, such as Brandon, Riverview, and Lutz, are permitted through Hillsborough County. Whichever office has jurisdiction, our staff files the paperwork and books the inspector visits.
Yes. Many communities in Westchase, FishHawk, Riverview, Valrico, and Sun City Center require architectural approval before a roof replacement. We provide the product information and color samples your association asks for.
Yes. Homes near Tampa Bay deal with salt air and higher winds, so we pay extra attention to fasteners, flashing, and material choices on bayfront projects. We install shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofing in these areas.
With a satellite office in Tampa, someone from our team is rarely more than a short drive from any corner of the county. When water is coming in, our Emergency Dry In service can cover the problem area until a permanent repair is made.
Stay safe and off the roof. Snap pictures from the lawn, set out towels or pans under drips, and reach our office at (863) 294-4477 . We will inspect, tarp what needs it, and document the damage if you decide to involve your insurance company.
