A Family-Owned Roofer for Charlotte County

R.I.G. Roofing is a faith-based, family-owned roofing contractor that has served Florida homeowners since 2005. Our Suncoast Division serves Charlotte County, and we repair and replace shingle, metal, tile, and TPO or PVC flat roofs for homes and businesses from the Peace River to the Gulf. Most residential replacements are finished in one day, and every job starts with a free roof assessment and is backed by a 10 to 20 year workmanship warranty.

Charlotte County roofs come in a few distinct flavors. Port Charlotte is a sea of block homes on canal and inland lots, Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store mix waterfront homes with tile roofs, and Englewood, Rotonda West and the Cape Haze peninsula take the brunt of Gulf wind and salt air. Each one needs a different plan.

Owners James and Bridget Curtis built the company on a simple promise: tell homeowners the truth about their roof, even when the truth is a small repair instead of a big sale. That is still how we work today.

We had a big problem in our master bathroom with the roof leaking. Rig sent out Elijah who inspected our roof, had an idea of what was wrong but wanted to do a water test. The next day he came out with his supervisor and they what they needed to do. I asked for worst case scenario pricing and what they really thought it would take (prepare for the worst, hope for the best). They provided their quote and was out in a few days. Well the repair turned out to be the best case. In fact, it came out less expensive then the best case quote.

Elijah and everyone else I spoke with was amazing with their communications, they came out when they said their would, and extremely clean.

When time comes from the roof replacement I am 100% going back to Rig Roofing based on this experience. - Hide

Absolute 5-star experience from start to finish!
We recently used R.I.G. Roofing for a project on our family home at Lake Mirror in Winter Haven after dealing with a frustrating roof leak. From the very beginning, their coordination was flawless. Their website was incredibly easy to navigate, and after filling out the contact form, we received an immediate response. Wow!The entire process was completely seamless. Every single step, from the initial consultation to the inspection with a higher-level manager, receiving the estimate, the actual roof work, and the follow-up care, was handled with total professionalism. It is clear that every department at R.I.G. works hand-in-hand. - Hide

RIG Roofing and Construction, solved my flat carport roof issues. Emory came out and thoroughly went over my whole roof and took lots of pictures. He listened to what I had to say and offered two options. The crew arrived early, managed by Isai and supervised by Aaron. Let me tell you they worked. This was a complex job and watching them was like watching a well organized group. They took down the flat part, built a temporary wall to hold the exterior structure up. They replaced the structural beam, by building it in place. Attached the cross beams and replaced the plywood. Then added the ISO board to create a slight tilt, so the water would flow off the roof. Then covered it with TPO sheeting. All this in one day and it poured for an hour or so. I was impressed. Thank you so much for the work well done. - Hide

CHARLOTTE COUNTY ROOFING GUIDE

How Roofing Changes Across Charlotte County

Port Charlotte and Murdock

Port Charlotte was laid out as a planned community starting in the 1950s, so much of it is concrete block homes on canal and inland lots, many of them on their second or third roof. Around Murdock and the US-41 corridor, newer subdivisions and commercial buildings add more shingle, tile and flat roofs to the mix.

Punta Gorda and Burnt Store

Punta Gorda rebuilt much of its housing after Hurricane Charley, and neighborhoods like Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store are full of waterfront homes with tile and metal roofs and HOA guidelines to follow.

Englewood, Rotonda and the Cape Haze Peninsula

Out west, Englewood, Rotonda, Placida and Manasota Key sit closest to the Gulf. Salt air corrodes fasteners, drip edge and flashing years before the roof covering wears out, so material and fastener choices matter more here than anywhere else in the county.

Every Roof Type Has a Place in Charlotte County

No single material wins everywhere, and we install and repair all of them:

  • Architectural shingles cover many Port Charlotte homes and are usually the lowest upfront cost.
  • Metal roofing is a long-term choice for coastal and waterfront homes and anyone tired of storm repairs.
  • Concrete and clay tile is common in Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store and the county's golf communities.
  • Flat sections over lanais and the low-slope tops of shops and offices are usually rebuilt in TPO or PVC membranes.

What Storms Have Taught Us About Charlotte County Roofs

Hurricane Charley struck Punta Gorda as a Category 4 storm on August 13, 2004, and Hurricane Ian made landfall at nearby Cayo Costa as a Category 4 on September 28, 2022 before crossing the county. Both storms showed which roofs hold up here. The pattern we still check for: missing shingles, cracked and lifted tiles, torn flat-roof membranes, and water getting in at ridge vents and flashing.

Who Issues Roof Permits in Charlotte County?

Punta Gorda is the only incorporated city in the county and runs its own Building Division. Everywhere else, including Port Charlotte, Englewood and Rotonda, roofs are permitted through Charlotte County Building Construction Services. Because the right office depends on the exact address, we confirm it for every job, pull the permit, and schedule the required inspections ourselves.

If your roof is only a few years old, enrolling it in our Roof Maintenance Program means a trained set of eyes checks it on a schedule. For older ones, a free roof assessment tells you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Charlotte County Roofing FAQs

Yes: Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Murdock, Englewood, Rotonda West, Placida, Burnt Store and the communities in between.

Punta Gorda is the county's only incorporated city and has its own Building Division. Everywhere else is permitted through Charlotte County Building Construction Services. We handle the permit and inspections.

It depends on the roof's age, the condition of the decking and the extent of any damage. A free roof assessment gives you an honest answer, including when a repair is enough.

Hurricanes Charley in 2004 and Ian in 2022 both showed that installation details matter as much as material. Metal, tile and architectural shingles can all perform well when installed to current Florida Building Code wind requirements.

Call (941) 896-7897 . Our team can tarp and dry in the damaged area to stop leaks and document the damage for your insurance claim before permanent repairs.
