Trusted Roof Repair and Replacement in Punta Gorda

R.I.G. Roofing is a family-owned, state-licensed roofing company that has worked on Florida homes since 2005, and we provide roof repair and replacement in Punta Gorda and across Charlotte County. Our crews install and repair shingle, metal, tile, TPO, and PVC roofs for homeowners, condo associations, and businesses. Every job begins with a free roof assessment, replacements are backed by a 10 to 20 year workmanship warranty, and we are BBB A+ accredited and Google Guaranteed, with most residential re-roofs completed in one day.

Punta Gorda work is handled by our Suncoast Division under Branch Manager Nathan Tanksley. That team grew out of our acquisition of Len's Roofing, which gave R.I.G. Roofing deeper roots along the Gulf Coast, and it is supported by our home office in Winter Haven and satellite offices in Lakeland, Tampa, and Bradenton.

Owners James and Bridget Curtis built this company on faith and straight talk. On a Punta Gorda roof that means a careful look, clear photos, and an honest recommendation, even when the honest answer is a small repair instead of a new roof.

  • Shingle work backed by our CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster standing
  • Metal Roof Supply Elite Installer
  • Standing seam and 5V panels installed under our TriCounty Metals Masters Edge credential
  • Licenses CBC1257644 / CCC1329175, insured for liability and workers' compensation

Roofing in Punta Gorda: Homes, Storms and City Permits

Two Hurricanes That Rebuilt Punta Gorda's Rooftops

Few Florida cities know hurricane wind as well as Punta Gorda. Hurricane Charley tore through on August 13, 2004, and much of the city was rebuilt under stronger codes. Then on September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian made its second Florida landfall near Punta Gorda as a Category 4, about an hour and a half after crossing Cayo Costa. The National Hurricane Center recorded a gust of roughly 135 mph at the Punta Gorda weather station before it stopped reporting. Hurricane Milton added gusts near 79 mph in October 2024.

The result is a city with a wide mix of roof ages. Some homes got brand new roofs after Ian, others were repaired quickly and are now showing problems, and a few still have systems that date back to the Charley rebuild. When we inspect a Punta Gorda roof, we look for wind-loosened tiles and ridge caps, shingles that have lost their seal, flashing pulled away at walls, and underlayment that has reached the end of its service life.

Punta Gorda Neighborhoods and the Roofs on Them

Punta Gorda Isles, developed beginning in 1959, is known for roughly 55 miles of canals with Gulf access, and Burnt Store Isles offers a similar waterfront setting with a golf course. Closer to downtown, the historic Punta Gorda Residential District has older wood-frame homes that call for a gentler hand, while Seminole Lakes and newer subdivisions bring more recent construction. We regularly work in all of these areas.

Across those neighborhoods you will find every major roof system, and R.I.G. Roofing installs and repairs each of them:

  • Concrete and clay tile is a common sight on canal homes in the Isles, and it pairs well with Mediterranean and coastal architecture. Tile roof details
  • Metal roofing fits everything from historic cottages to modern waterfront builds and offers excellent wind resistance. Metal roof details
  • Architectural shingles are found throughout Punta Gorda and remain a practical, cost-effective option for many homes. Shingle roof details
  • Flat roofs on downtown storefronts, condo buildings, and lanai additions are covered with TPO or PVC single-ply membranes.

Many waterfront neighborhoods also have deed restrictions or an architectural review process, so we supply product data and color samples for your approval packet before any work is scheduled.

City Permits Versus County Permits

The City of Punta Gorda runs its own Building Division, so a re-roof on a home inside city limits is permitted through the city rather than the county. Many nearby homes carry a Punta Gorda mailing address but sit in unincorporated Charlotte County, such as Harbour Heights, Solana, and Charlotte Park, and those are permitted through Charlotte County Building Construction Services. We confirm which office covers your address, pull the right permit, and arrange every required inspection.

Deciding Between a Repair and a New Roof

We start with the least invasive fix that will last. A few broken tiles, a lifted section of shingles, or a failed pipe boot can often be handled with a targeted roof repair. If the underlayment is worn out or leaks keep appearing in new places, a full roof replacement protects the house better. Schedule a free roof assessment and we will show you the photos and explain both paths.

Serving Punta Gorda and Southern Charlotte County

Beyond the city itself, our Suncoast crews are on roofs in Port Charlotte across the river, Englewood, Rotonda, and North Port. Every community on our Charlotte County roofing page is within reach of the same team.

Absolute 5-star experience from start to finish!
We recently used R.I.G. Roofing for a project on our family home at Lake Mirror in Winter Haven after dealing with a frustrating roof leak. From the very beginning, their coordination was flawless. Their website was incredibly easy to navigate, and after filling out the contact form, we received an immediate response. Wow!The entire process was completely seamless. Every single step, from the initial consultation to the inspection with a higher-level manager, receiving the estimate, the actual roof work, and the follow-up care, was handled with total professionalism. It is clear that every department at R.I.G. works hand-in-hand. - Hide

RIG Roofing and Construction, solved my flat carport roof issues. Emory came out and thoroughly went over my whole roof and took lots of pictures. He listened to what I had to say and offered two options. The crew arrived early, managed by Isai and supervised by Aaron. Let me tell you they worked. This was a complex job and watching them was like watching a well organized group. They took down the flat part, built a temporary wall to hold the exterior structure up. They replaced the structural beam, by building it in place. Attached the cross beams and replaced the plywood. Then added the ISO board to create a slight tilt, so the water would flow off the roof. Then covered it with TPO sheeting. All this in one day and it poured for an hour or so. I was impressed. Thank you so much for the work well done. - Hide

I cannot say enough great things about Aaron Chandler and RIG Roofing! Aaron's communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. He was responsive at all hours of the day and understood how important our timeline was. We needed a complete reroof finished in time to satisfy insurance requirements, bind coverage, and keep our real estate closing on schedule with no delays.

RIG Roofing delivered! The entire reroof was completed in just one day, and I was extremely impressed with the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of the crew. Even the neighbors commented on how amazed they were with the process and quality of the work.

What impressed me just as much was the attention to detail. The landscaping and exterior of the home were kept in meticulous condition throughout the project, everything was cleaned up beautifully, and they even left spare shingles for the homeowners should they ever need them in the future. - Hide

Common Questions From Punta Gorda Homeowners

Punta Gorda is an incorporated city, so homes within its boundaries get their re-roof permit from the city's own Building Division. Homes with a Punta Gorda address in unincorporated areas, such as Harbour Heights or Solana, are permitted by Charlotte County. Our office looks up your parcel, files with whichever office has jurisdiction, and books the inspections.

Every home is different, because size, slope, material, and the condition of the wood deck all change the price. Many shingle re-roofs fall between $8,000 and $18,000, and tile or metal roofs often range from $10,000 to $30,000 or more on larger homes. After a free on-site assessment we give you a written estimate, and qualified homeowners can use financing.

Not necessarily. Tile is a durable, attractive choice and we install plenty of it, but some Punta Gorda owners switch to metal or architectural shingles for weight, budget, or style reasons. If your neighborhood has deed restrictions, we help you confirm which materials and colors are allowed before you decide.

Yes. Older wood-frame homes near downtown often have different decking and framing than newer block houses, so we inspect carefully, replace damaged boards as needed, and choose materials that suit the home's character while meeting current code.

We do. R.I.G. Roofing installs and repairs TPO, PVC, metal, and shingle roofs on retail, office, and multifamily buildings, and we plan the schedule around your business hours whenever possible.

Keep everyone safe and off the roof. Photograph damage from the ground and inside the home, then call (863) 294-4477 . We can set up an Emergency Dry In to keep water out, inspect the roof, and prepare documentation if you decide to file with your insurer.
