For homeowners in Plant City, Florida, R.I.G. Roofing is a family-owned, faith-based roofer whose Lakeland satellite office sits just up I-4, with our Winter Haven headquarters behind it. Our crews have been fixing leaks and installing new shingle, metal, tile, TPO, and PVC roofs on houses, farm buildings, and storefronts here since 2005. Plant City customers get a free roof assessment, a written estimate, a 10 to 20 year workmanship warranty on new roofs, and in most cases a finished residential replacement in just one day.

We had a big problem in our master bathroom with the roof leaking. Rig sent out Elijah who inspected our roof, had an idea of what was wrong but wanted to do a water test. The next day he came out with his supervisor and they what they needed to do. I asked for worst case scenario pricing and what they really thought it would take (prepare for the worst, hope for the best). They provided their quote and was out in a few days. Well the repair turned out to be the best case. In fact, it came out less expensive then the best case quote.
Elijah and everyone else I spoke with was amazing with their communications, they came out when they said their would, and extremely clean.
When time comes from the roof replacement I am 100% going back to Rig Roofing based on this experience.

Absolute 5-star experience from start to finish!
We recently used R.I.G. Roofing for a project on our family home at Lake Mirror in Winter Haven after dealing with a frustrating roof leak. From the very beginning, their coordination was flawless. Their website was incredibly easy to navigate, and after filling out the contact form, we received an immediate response. Wow!The entire process was completely seamless. Every single step, from the initial consultation to the inspection with a higher-level manager, receiving the estimate, the actual roof work, and the follow-up care, was handled with total professionalism. It is clear that every department at R.I.G. works hand-in-hand.

I am so pleased with RIG ROOFING! I didn't have any problems at all from start to finish. Emory McTeer was the person I met with to get the project started. Angelina kept me informed about everything during the whole process. Aaron who supervised the job was very helpful and professional. The crew was very nice. RIG Roofing and Construction, solved my flat carport roof issues. Emory came out and thoroughly went over my whole roof and took lots of pictures. He listened to what I had to say and offered two options. The crew arrived early, managed by Isai and supervised by Aaron. Let me tell you they worked. This was a complex job and watching them was like watching a well organized group. They took down the flat part, built a temporary wall to hold the exterior structure up. They replaced the structural beam, by building it in place. Attached the cross beams and replaced the plywood. Then added the ISO board to create a slight tilt, so the water would flow off the roof. Then covered it with TPO sheeting. All this in one day and it poured for an hour or so. I was impressed. Thank you so much for the work well done. - Hide
Plant City Roofing: Permits, Homes and Local Weather
The City of Plant City Issues Its Own Roof Permits
Unlike Brandon, Valrico, and most of eastern Hillsborough County, Plant City is an incorporated city with its own Building Division. If your home is inside city limits, the re-roof permit and inspections come from the City of Plant City, not the county. The city lists re-roofs on its residential fee schedule with a fee based on job valuation. Properties just outside the city line, in areas like Dover or out toward Turkey Creek, are permitted by Hillsborough County instead. R.I.G. Roofing confirms which office has jurisdiction for your address, files the application, and meets every inspector so you do not have to.
From Historic Bungalows to Walden Lake
Plant City was first incorporated in 1885, and its housing shows that long history. The North Plant City Residential District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, holds dozens of Colonial Revival, Craftsman bungalow, and vernacular homes between Herring, Wheeler, Tever, and Palmer Streets. Older roofs there often have steep pitches, multiple dormers, and original board decking that calls for careful, experienced hands.
On the south side of town, Walden Lake is a large deed-restricted community where homes were built mostly between the late 1970s and early 2000s, with a median build year around 1988. That means many Walden Lake houses are now on their second or third roof.
Roof Types Common in Plant City
With farmhouses, historic homes, subdivisions, and commercial buildings all within a few miles, Plant City has one of the most varied roof mixes in the county, and our crews handle each of these:
-
Asphalt shingles on the majority of homes in Walden Lake and the subdivisions around town. Shingle roof details
-
Metal roofing on farmhouses, barns, packing sheds, and rural homes surrounded by strawberry fields, plus a growing number of in-town homes. Metal roof details
-
Concrete tile on many larger and newer homes, especially in planned communities. Tile roof details
-
TPO and PVC on flat-roofed downtown storefronts, warehouses, and distribution buildings near I-4. TPO details and PVC details
What Plant City Weather Does to a Roof
Plant City is known for mild winters that grow strawberries, but summer is a different story. Afternoon thunderstorms bring heavy rain and gusty winds most days from June into September, and tropical systems still reach this far inland. Milton proved it in October 2024: federal forecasters logged county-wide wind peaks between 80 and 100 mph and a double-digit rain total that soaked eastern Hillsborough for days.
On older Plant City homes we often find brittle shingles, rotted fascia boards, and flashing that was never updated during earlier re-roofs. On newer homes the usual culprits are nail pops, failed pipe boots, and ridge vents that let wind-driven rain inside.
Repair, Replace, or Maintain?
Many Plant City roofs only need a well-done roof repair to last several more years. When decking is soft in several places or the roof has passed its expected life, a full roof replacement is usually the smarter investment. Either way, our free roof assessment gives you photos and a straight answer, and our Roof Maintenance Program helps a new roof stay that way.
Areas Around Plant City We Serve
Our crews work throughout Plant City, from the historic North Plant City streets and downtown to Walden Lake and the newer subdivisions on the edges of town. We also serve Dover, Seffner, Valrico, Brandon, and Lakeland next door in Polk County, along with the rest of Hillsborough County.

Plant City Roofing Questions and Answers
For addresses within the municipal boundary, Plant City's own Building Division reviews the re-roof application and sends the city inspector. Step past the city line into unincorporated territory and that paperwork shifts to the county building office. We check jurisdiction for your address and take care of the permit either way.
Most architectural shingle replacements on a typical Plant City home land somewhere around $8,000 to $18,000. Metal and tile generally range from $10,000 to $30,000, depending on the size of the roof, its pitch and complexity, and any decking that has to be replaced. We give every homeowner a free inspection and a written estimate, and financing is available for those who qualify.
Yes. Older homes in the North Plant City area often have steep roofs, dormers, and original wood decking. We take extra care with tear-off and decking repairs and can recommend materials that suit the character of the house.
Yes. We install metal roofing on barns, sheds, packing buildings, and workshops as well as homes, which makes it a common choice on the agricultural properties around Plant City.
Many Walden Lake homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, so an original roof there would be well past its expected lifespan. Even if it is not leaking, a free inspection will tell you whether it is time to plan a replacement before a storm forces the decision.
Yes. We repair and replace TPO, PVC, and metal roofs on storefronts, offices, churches, and warehouses, and we offer maintenance plans for commercial property owners.
Wait until the weather passes and never climb onto a damaged roof. Photograph the damage from the ground and call (863) 294-4477 . Our Emergency Dry In service can cover the opening to stop more water from getting in, and we will document what we find if you choose to contact your insurance company.
